Christa named a Bronze-Level Partner by Cool Rochester

Christa Construction has just joined the Cool Rochester initiative and pledged to reduce carbon emissions (C02) by almost 2 million pounds.

About Cool Rochester: (from their website)
“Cool Rochester is a non-profit group composed of concerned citizens who are engaging the Rochester community in the fight against climate change. We believe dramatic reductions of carbon dioxide emissions are necessary to preserve and protect a functioning planet for this (and future) generations. Our goal is to reduce Rochester area carbon emissions one billion pounds in three years. . . By unleashing the power of community we can save energy, save money and save the planet.”

Christa construction is currently a Bronze-level partner with Cool Rochester, by incorporating CO2 reductions made in our offices with the impact from our LEED certified buildings. According to the U.S. Green Building Council, Green buildings have 33% less greenhouse gas emissions.

Christa is working hard to progress the Cool Rochester program in-house and is looking forward to creating more Green buildings with outside partners. Some actions that Christa is taking to reduce CO2 emissions include:

• Recycling not only paper, but containers as well
• Harvesting daylight as much as possible by turning off some lights near windows
• Conducting meetings through telecommunications as much as possible
• Providing reusable coffee mugs, plates and utensils and eliminating all Polystyrene cups (which not only are non-recyclable and sit in our landfills for millions of years, but can also leach carcinogenic chemicals into the liquid we drink)
